Bigfoot evidence gets stronger when the source gets clearer. This is our running guide to viral Sasquatch footage, photographs, witness cases, solved hoaxes and the clips we refuse to overstate.
HOW PW ASSESSES BIGFOOT EVIDENCE
A compelling silhouette is not enough. For each case we examine provenance: who recorded it, when, where, on what device, and whether the original file still exists.
- Source chain: Can the image or video be traced to the original witness?
- Scale: Is there a reliable way to estimate height and distance?
- Continuity: Is the complete recording available rather than a crop or repost?
- Context: Was the footage created for entertainment, promotion or a documented stunt?
- Conventional alternatives: People, costumes, bears, perspective, compression and AI remain possibilities until evidence rules them out.
THE SYRACUSE FIGURE
A hiker reportedly photographed a small humanlike figure in an Onondaga County marsh in August 2026. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization later returned to the location and attempted a scale recreation, estimating the subject at roughly 4 feet 9 inches.
The reported reconstruction offers context, but a human remains a plausible explanation and the subject occupies only a small portion of the distant frame.
THE MOGOLLON MONSTER PHOTO
An old Arizona photograph shows a reddish-brown figure moving through scrub with a dark object in front of its body. Its conflicting backstories matter as much as its appearance.
By 2022, Bigfoot researcher Bob Gymlan was discussing two competing origin stories for the photograph. Later reposts variously described the object as lumber, a deer or a calf. PW treats the case as unverified with incomplete provenance.
OKLAHOMA: THE VIRAL “SASQUATCH” STUNT
A widely circulated 2024 Oklahoma Bigfoot video appeared unusually clear. Local reporting later identified it as a staged promotional stunt rather than documentary evidence, as detailed in our Oklahoma investigation.

DAMARISCOTTA, MAINE: REPORTED BIGFOOT COSTUME
September 2026 reporting described several residents noticing a large hairy figure in Damariscotta and police eventually identifying a person wearing a Sasquatch costume. The incident, as reported, provides a possible example of sincere misidentification followed by a mundane explanation.
The available account does not establish what was recorded.

HELD FOR PROVENANCE
Some visually striking social clips are deliberately not individual website evidence files yet. These include the Washington clearing video, the campground “bathroom Bigfoot” face and the “man raised a baby Bigfoot” photo series. Their original filmer, recording information or source chain has not been reliably established by PW.
Interest alone does not establish authenticity. If original files and witness details become available, these cases can be reassessed.
