I think most people would agree that old-time photos have an unsettling nature about that. I am not sure if a look at the past and realizing how things have changed is to blame or simply the realization that the people in the photo are dead remind us of our own mortality. Either way, the photo highlighted in this article, 100 years old or not, is a terrifying reminder that a camera may be capturing more than just the living.
The Ghost Hand Doesn’t Add Up
A woman named Lynda recently submitted a photo of her grandmother to a website claiming to have evidence of the paranormal. At first glance, the photo looks like any other old photo until you notice an unaccounted hand.
Lynda is quoted as saying “Great to see an old photo of my Granny, in the by-gone years photo, when she worked at the mill.
“She was Ellen Donnelly and she is fourth on the right in the second row down.
“My dad has this photo at home, a family ghost picture.”
An Optical Illusion?
The hand is undeniably creepy, but are we sure this is something paranormal? Cameras from back in the day were not the 4k powerhouses of today. Prolonged exposures were a regular occurrence causing optical illusions. A floating hand is an anomaly that can be found in many of these old time ghost photos. This is a huge red flag for us.
If we were to place our bets we would have to bet on this image simply being an optical illusion. While the photo is probably not paranormal, it is still amazing to have a look back at history.
